Baz\u0131 sufiler, et yemeyi reddederek yaln\u0131zca ruhsal ar\u0131nmay\u0131 de\u011fil, bedenlerine de hafiflik ve ahlaki bir duru\u015f katmay\u0131 tercih ediyordu. \u201cEtyemezler\u201d lakab\u0131 hem onlar\u0131n yemek al\u0131\u015fkanl\u0131klar\u0131n\u0131 hem de mistik disiplinlerini ifade ediyordu. Bozok, Ankara, Sivas, Kastamonu, K\u00fctahya ve Samsun\u2019daki k\u00f6yleri kurarken; Bozok ve Sivas\u2019ta zaviye (k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck tekke) in\u015fa etmi\u015flerdir. Bu zaviyeler, onlar\u0131n manevi e\u011fitim verdikleri ve halk aras\u0131nda ahlak, disiplin ile do\u011faya uyumlu ya\u015fam \u00f6\u011fretilerini yayd\u0131klar\u0131 merkezler olmu\u015ftur. K\u00f6y, Baba\u2019n\u0131n etraf\u0131ndaki T\u00fcrkmenlerin zaviye \u00e7evresine yerle\u015fmesiyle olu\u015fmu\u015ftur. Rivayetlere g\u00f6re, et yememesine ra\u011fmen gelip ge\u00e7enlere et ikram etti\u011fi i\u00e7in bu ismi alm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Ba\u015fka bir rivayete g\u00f6re ise fakir bir aile, \u00e7ocuklar\u0131n\u0131n tek koyununu buradan ge\u00e7en bir dervi\u015fe ikram etmi\u015f; \u00e7ocuklar\u0131n a\u011flamas\u0131na dayanamayan dervi\u015f koyunu tekrar diriltmi\u015ftir ve bu kerametinden dolay\u0131 Etyemez Baba ad\u0131yla tan\u0131nm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Sivas\u2019taki Etyemez k\u00f6y\u00fcnde, eski T\u00fcrkler taraf\u0131ndan uygulanan \u0131d\u0131k\/\u0131duk gelene\u011fi (kans\u0131z adak), Etyemez Baba\u2019n\u0131n mezar\u0131nda h\u00e2len s\u00fcrd\u00fcr\u00fclmektedir. Bu rit\u00fceli Baba\u2019n\u0131n soyundan geldi\u011fine inan\u0131lan muskac\u0131-t\u00fcrbedar ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirir; mezar\u0131 temizler ve per\u015fembeyi cumaya ba\u011flayan gecelerde ate\u015f yakar. Mezardan al\u0131nan toprak muska h\u00e2line getirilip nazardan korunmak veya ev ve ah\u0131r kap\u0131lar\u0131na as\u0131lmak i\u00e7in kullan\u0131l\u0131r. B\u00f6lgedeki T\u00fcrkmen n\u00fcfusun yo\u011funlu\u011fu, dervi\u015flerin onlarla hareket etti\u011fini g\u00f6stermektedir. Bozok sanca\u011f\u0131nda Yusuf Abdal, \u00dcryan Abdal ve Sar\u0131 Abdal gibi k\u00f6y isimlerinin \u00e7oklu\u011fu, b\u00f6lgedeki dervi\u015flerin \u00e7oklu\u011funa i\u015faret eder.
