K\u00f6rpe h\u00e2lindeyken toplan\u0131r, dikenlerinden ar\u0131nd\u0131r\u0131larak temizlenir ve farkl\u0131 \u015fekillerde haz\u0131rlan\u0131r. Sebze gibi kavrulur, kemikli kuzu etiyle pi\u015firilir ya da ha\u015flanarak salatas\u0131 yap\u0131l\u0131r. Halk aras\u0131nda \u201cbostan otu\u201d, \u201cm\u00fcbarek dikeni\u201d veya \u201cakk\u0131z\u201d gibi isimlerle de bilinen \u015fevketibostan, yaln\u0131zca yemeklerde de\u011fil; ayn\u0131 zamanda \u00e7ay ve tur\u015fu olarak da t\u00fcketilmektedir. Mevsimine g\u00f6re taze ya da kurutulmu\u015f olarak y\u0131l boyunca sofralarda yer bulur. Dikenli mor tepesi temizlendi\u011finde enginara benzeyen \u015fekli ortaya \u00e7\u0131kan deve dikeni, ha\u015flanarak et yemeklerinde kullan\u0131l\u0131r. Tuzlu suda yakla\u015f\u0131k be\u015f dakika ha\u015fland\u0131ktan sonra iyice s\u00fcz\u00fclen kazaya\u011f\u0131 otu, sar\u0131msak, limon suyu ve zeytinya\u011f\u0131 ile lezzetlendirilerek servis edilir. Tek ba\u015f\u0131na t\u00fcketildi\u011finde hafif ac\u0131ms\u0131 bir tada sahip olan bu ot, ha\u015fland\u0131ktan sonra sar\u0131msakl\u0131 yo\u011furt ile de sofralarda yerini al\u0131r.
