Yanarak meteora d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015fen g\u00f6k ta\u015f\u0131, arkas\u0131nda kuyruk gibi iz b\u0131rakarak eriyip g\u00f6ky\u00fcz\u00fcnde kaybolur. En parlak meteora, ba\u015fka bir ifadeyle en parlak alev topuna ise bolit ismi verilmi\u015ftir. Her y\u0131l a\u011fustos ay\u0131nda \u00f6zellikle 12\u2019sini 13\u2019\u00fcne ba\u011flayan gece g\u00f6zlemlenebilen g\u00f6r\u00fcnt\u00fcn\u00fcn sebebi 1992\u2019de gezegenimizin yak\u0131n\u0131ndan ge\u00e7en Swift-Tuttle kuyruklu y\u0131ld\u0131z\u0131ndan arta kalan kal\u0131nt\u0131lard\u0131r. Tabii kara alanlar\u0131na denk gelenler de yok de\u011fil, \u015fu an yery\u00fcz\u00fcnde bilimsel olarak onaylanm\u0131\u015f 188 meteor \u00e7ukuru bulunuyor. Baz\u0131 \u00e7ukurlar\u0131n olu\u015fum tarihi milyonlarca y\u0131l \u00f6ncesine gidiyor. \u00d6rne\u011fin bilinen en b\u00fcy\u00fck meteor \u00e7ukuru 2 milyar y\u0131l \u00f6nceki \u00e7arp\u0131\u015fmada olu\u015ftu\u011funa inan\u0131lan G\u00fcney Afrika\u2019daki Vredefort Krateri\u2019dir. \u00c7arpma an\u0131nda kraterin \u00e7ap\u0131n\u0131n 300 km oldu\u011fu d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcl\u00fcyor. Bir g\u00f6k ta\u015f\u0131 d\u00fc\u015ft\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnde kendi \u00e7ap\u0131n\u0131n bir iki kat\u0131 kadar derine ula\u015fabiliyor.
